In November 2022, Buster's Paw Prints received a $2,500 grant from the Animal Welfare Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of the North State to spay owned dogs in the community of Rancho Tehama, CA. Many residents in this rural community do not have reliable transportation, so as part of The Spay Day Project, volunteers will pick up and transport their dogs to the vet.
Our first grant-funded spay was Phoebe, an approximately 1 1/2 year old shepherd mix who had already had several litters of puppies. We met Phoebe while volunteering at a free vaccine clinic, while she was pregnant with another litter.
While spaying other dogs at the property, Phoebe's puppies (pictured below) were surrendered to us and ultimately transferred to a rescue partner.
On December 15, Phoebe was spayed and vaccinated! Phoebe is absolutely one of the sweetest dogs we have met and we are so happy her puppy days are behind her.
